Introduction

When scaling any organization, it is important to assess the best way to tell your story in the most effective way possible. However, certain roadblocks can often pop up that create barriers to developing efficient storytelling programs.

In this blog post, we are going to discuss how fractional thought leadership can help overcome some of these roadblocks and help your organization effectively tell its story without sacrificing current objectives.

What is thought leadership?

It is important that organizations have content that establishes their team as an authority in their respective industry. Thought leadership is defined as,

the expression of ideas that demonstrate you have expertise in a particular field, area, or topic

Thought leadership can consist of a range of activities such as content marketing, podcasting, social media management, and conference talks. Whatever the medium, the goal is to establish your organization as an authority on your given niche.

How can fractional thought leadership help your organization?

There are two consistently present struggles that all modern organizations face when approaching thought leadership. For starters, budget constraints create blockers to bringing on the staff needed to create effective content programs, and even if the staff is there, time constraints can create even more blockers to actually executing on those programs.

So we see that the two main constraints of effective thought leadership in modern organizations are budget and time.

A potential answer to this comes in the form of fractional thought leadership. This is a new and growing practice where your organization leverages an external team of thought leaders who work part-time and on a contract basis.

This allows your organization to save money and time by gaining access to a team of experts without having to bring someone on full-time.

What are some examples of fractional thought leadership?

There are quite a few fractional thought leadership agencies out there that don't quite label themselves as fractional thought leaders. The first example would obviously be our own agency, Cloudspeakers.

However, a couple of other agencies we are quite fond of that deal with other niches are DevRelate and Devocate.

Conclusion

Fractional thought leadership can help your organization scale your technical storytelling ability for less, but it’s not the answer to every problem. It requires flexibility and the desire to collaboratively tell your story with the help of external leaders.
